How to Search the Chester Court Docket
Chester offers no separate municipal court search. For a Chester case filed in Thayer County Court, use the JUSTICE Trial Court Case Search. Search by a party, never a witness. Court level, county, and case type help route the query. A citation written in Chester can show up as a County Court record. It may carry no Chester city-court entry at all.
The public one-time JUSTICE route has a 24-hour entry delay. It returns up to 30 records. It costs $17 whether or not anything turns up, and keeps access open for three calendar days. Save the Chester case number once you have it. A public result may include a case summary, parties, financial entries, a Register of Actions, and available images. Access varies by record.
- Read the Chester citation for court information and a possible case number.
- Search the party name in JUSTICE.
- Use County Court and Thayer for a Chester county-court matter.
- Read TR as traffic when it appears in the returned case.
- Call the County Court clerk to verify a date, copy, or missing result.
Chester Municipal Court Search Route
Chester has no separate municipal court. It has no municipal judge, no city violation-bureau page, and no docket portal. The 2020 Census put the town's population at 224. Small size and city status create no special court register. Nebraska County Court handles city and village ordinance actions plus traffic. So the public route for a Chester court matter is County Court and JUSTICE, unless the citation itself gives a narrow administrative instruction.
That split guards against two mistakes. A Chester City Hall record is not automatically a court record. A blank city search is not proof no court case exists. Bring municipal documents and local office questions to the city office. Bring filed cases, Register of Actions, court dates, and certified copies to the court clerk.
Chester City Hall Record Boundary
The Chester civic-information page lists City Hall's address and phone. The office sits at 621 Thayer Avenue, Chester, NE 68327. The phone is 402-324-5755. Dakota Cherney serves as clerk/treasurer under a one-year appointment. So City Hall is a Chester municipal-record contact. It is not the custodian of Thayer County Court records.
City Hall hours split by date. From the 1st through 15th of the month, it opens 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. From the 16th through 20th, it opens 8:30 a.m. to noon. Those hours fit a city-office errand only. They are not court-clerk hours or a court-calendar schedule.

The civic-information page routes municipal business locally while leaving court records with the court that actually holds them.
Chester Clerk Appointment Context
Dakota Cherney's one-year clerk/treasurer appointment is pure city government. It is not a standing appointment to any Chester court clerk role. Chester has no court office or court judge of its own. A public court record request must go to Thayer County Court, no matter who holds the City Hall job.
Mandy Klipp, Clerk Magistrate and Clerk of the County Court, is the published contact for Chester County Court cases. Her office sits in Room 203, Thayer County Courthouse, 225 N. 4th Street, Hebron, NE 68370. Her published phone is 402-768-6325 ext. 4, and her email is mandy.klipp@nejudicial.gov. When you call, give the case number, the court, and the record you need.

Chester County Number 32
Thayer's statewide county number is 32. A County Court case number starts with C32; a District Court number starts with D32. After that prefix come the case type, a two-digit year, and a sequence number. This is one way to read a Chester number. It is not a promise that every JUSTICE or ePayments field accepts the same punctuation.
The common traffic component is TR. Statewide payment instructions also list CI, CR, JV, PR, and SC as broad case-type components. The court and code on the actual record govern a Chester case. A number helps the clerk pull the right file. It does not unlock restricted material.
Chester Court Dates and Settings
For a future Chester hearing, use the Multi-Court Case Calendar. Select County Court, choose Thayer, and search by current or future date or a last name of at least two characters. The date option does not show past settings. The calendar warns that no result does not necessarily mean no court date exists, so a missing Chester date needs live confirmation.
Compare a calendar result with the Register of Actions. Court level, case number, date, time, location, and hearing type can guide the request, but an entry can change. For a Chester matter involving an urgent appearance or missing setting, call Mandy Klipp instead of relying on an old result or a City Hall schedule.
| Case number | A County Court Chester result can begin C32. |
|---|---|
| Case type | TR means traffic when the result uses that component. |
| Date and time | Current or future calendar information, subject to confirmation. |
| Court | County Court or District Court, which identifies the clerk. |
| Setting type | The hearing or event label actually shown by the official system. |
Chester Railroad Civic Context
Chester began as a railroad town. The official history places the railroad's arrival in fall 1880. Village government started in 1883. That is real civic background. It says nothing about a courthouse, a docket portal, or any municipal court. A court search still runs through current Judicial Branch services. The Thayer County court clerk is part of that route.
The official Chester history site tells the town's community story. Treat it as background only. A railroad or incorporation chronology does not document court construction or court administration in Chester.

The history helps a reader picture the community. Even so, a Chester docket remains a Thayer County court record, filed and kept at the county level.
Chester Traffic Tickets
A Chester traffic or ordinance citation becomes a Thayer County Court matter. That happens once it is filed there. Search by party name in JUSTICE. If traffic appears, use TR. The public court record may show a lot. It can list the citation event, a hearing, public financial information, an order, and a disposition. It cannot substitute for a citation's deadline or for a city-office contact.
Nebraska ePayments can look up an eligible case. Search by court type, county, case type, year, and identifier. It is a payment route, not the complete Chester docket. Never pay online before an appearance when a citation is marked waiver not allowed. Bond payments cannot be made online. A minimum additional charge of $1.25 can apply to a ticket or case payment.
Chester traffic flow: Chester citation or ordinance question → Thayer County Court and JUSTICE → calendar or clerk confirmation for a future setting.
Chester Register of Actions Fields
A Chester court result can carry many fields. These include a case number, court, parties, filing date, case type, status, hearing information, financial information, and dated Register of Actions rows. Each row records a filing, notice, motion, hearing, order, judgment, payment, or disposition. Read them in order. A motion row is a request, not a ruling. A hearing row is not a final order. A public docket result never proves every detail of a case.
The Nebraska Article 8 rule sets the public-access boundary for electronic court records. It defines what a Chester court record can show. It does not support any claim of a separate local municipal court.

A public image may be missing because of record date, system availability, or access limits. When you need one, ask the court clerk for a public plain or certified copy.
- Register of Actions
- The chronological court-event list, often called a docket.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event rather than a guaranteed final hearing.
- Case summary
- Case-level information that the statewide search may display.
Where Chester Cases End Up
Chester runs no separate municipal court. Ordinance and traffic work is generally filed in Thayer County Court. County Court also handles misdemeanors and preliminary felony proceedings. A district-level felony trial, a domestic-relations case, or a major civil case sits in Thayer District Court, which has its own clerk. Address those matters to that clerk directly.
Docket flow: Chester city or citation question → Thayer County Court / JUSTICE → Thayer District Court only when the actual case is filed there.
See the Thayer County court docket overview for routing between the two clerks.
Chester Sheriff Contact Boundary
The Chester civic page lists Thayer County law enforcement as serving the town and gives the sheriff's number, 402-768-6139. That helps identify a local law-enforcement contact. It does not make the sheriff the keeper of the court register. Confirm any docket, calendar, certified copy, or case status with the court clerk.
The boundary matters most when something is urgent. Court-setting questions go to the clerk. A blank calendar result is not conclusive. A payment lookup does not change a warrant or court obligation, so use the proper court channel for the official record and current instruction.
Chester Court Terminal Fallback
If Chester online searching fails, visit or call the Thayer County Courthouse. City Hall has no portal. That is not the end of the road. Nebraska policy allows free public terminal or kiosk access at courthouses and law libraries. The county lists the courthouse as where official documents live. Call the County Court clerk before a large request. Terminal hours, copy processes, and availability are not stated in the policy.
Make the request specific. State the Chester connection and court level. Give the case number if known, party name, year or type, exact document or register date range, and plain or certified format. With a complete party name plus case year or type, court staff may search a specific record. The policy promises no certificate that no record exists.
Public Access to Chester Court Records
Nebraska court rules govern Chester court access, not the City Hall page. Article 8 permits access through a court-approved provider or a public terminal. It also identifies public party indexes, case summaries, Registers of Actions, available images, calendars, and summary information about judgments, orders, and decrees. Not every file or image is public. Sealed, juvenile, adoption, protected criminal-history, and other confidential material follows different rules.
For a Chester-related copy, ask the clerk for the exact document. County Court photocopies are listed at $0.25 a page. A certificate and seal costs $1. Confirm the current amount, public status, and delivery method. The Public Records Act provides the general written-request response framework. Article 8 controls court-record restrictions.
Public-record boundary:
Nebraska Court Records Rules, Article 8 governs access to public court information.
Article 8 §1-808 excludes confidential and sealed information from ordinary access.
Nebraska Public Records Act §84-712 generally calls for an access response, denial, or estimate within four business days.
Note: Chester City Hall has distinctive monthly hours. For a Chester court record or a current hearing date, the court clerk is the source.
