How to Search Civil Dockets
Begin with the official JUSTICE Trial Court Case Search. The party-name route costs $17 for a one-time search. It returns up to 30 cases and keeps results viewable for three days. Expect up to 24 hours before a new case shows in the public system. Searches work by party name only, never by witness. A blank result does not mean no case exists.
Collect details first. Gather the full party name, likely court level, year, case type, and any case number. Check the result header to confirm the court before reading the Register of Actions. A county civil case and a district civil case can share a county name. Yet they rest with different clerks.
- Search JUSTICE with the party name and accept the state terms.
- Confirm whether the result is Thayer County Court or Thayer District Court.
- Open the case summary and compare the case type, parties, filing date, and status.
- Read the civil Register of Actions for the filing, service, response, motion, setting, and order history.
- Request a plain or certified copy from the clerk when the public result does not supply the needed document.
Thayer Civil Court Levels
Under the current Nebraska County Court overview, Thayer County Court holds concurrent civil jurisdiction up to $70,000. Small claims sit in their own case family. District Court handles general civil matters beyond county-court authority, plus domestic relations. Rely on the current state source. Older civil limits on the local county page may mislead.
| Thayer civil matter | Case code and court | Record custodian |
|---|---|---|
| County civil or small claims | C32-CI or C32-SC pattern | County Court clerk |
| General civil or domestic relations | D32-CI pattern or district result | District Court clerk |
What a Civil Docket Shows
A Thayer Register of Actions can list the case number, court level, filing date, caption, party roles, attorneys, case type, and status. Hearing details and public document images may appear too. The state case-information service describes these as possible public case elements. What shows up depends on the case. Remember, a docket entry is not the pleading, exhibit, or transcript behind it.
| Case number | Court letter, Thayer county number, case family, year, and identifier, such as C32-CI-YY-NNNNNNN. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Public plaintiff or petitioner and defendant or respondent roles, plus attorneys when shown. |
| Register event | Complaint, petition, service, response, motion, notice, order, judgment, dismissal, or appeal entry. |
| Setting | A calendar date and time with any published location, judge, or hearing type. |
| Result | A public judgment, decree, order, costs, satisfaction, or disposition summary when available. |
| Image | A public electronic document link only where the system makes one available. |
Thayer Civil Case Codes
Thayer is county 32 in the official JUSTICE county-number list. The prefix C32 marks the county-court side. The prefix D32 marks the district-court side. Beyond that, CI signals a civil family and SC a small-claims family. State forms may space or hyphenate the parts differently. Follow the labels the form displays instead of altering the code.
- Complaint or petition
- The initiating civil filing, described by the register when public.
- Service
- Entries showing a summons, citation, return, or related notice process.
- Continuance
- A postponed setting; it is an event, not a decision on the merits.
- Satisfaction
- A register event that may show a judgment-related obligation was addressed.
Types of Civil Cases on the Docket
What fills a Thayer civil docket depends on the court level. County Court carries limited civil matters and small claims. District Court takes general civil and domestic-relations work. Trust the case result and the clerk, not a broad label, to identify the right file. Adoption, juvenile matters, and protected information follow distinct access rules. Never treat them as ordinary civil docket material.
- Limited civil cases within County Court authority.
- Small claims at $7,500 or less under the current state schedule.
- General civil matters in District Court.
- Domestic-relations matters in District Court.
- Public judgment, decree, satisfaction, and appeal entries when the system displays them.
Thayer Civil Filing Limits
Watch for stale numbers here. An outdated local description lists older amounts. The Judicial Branch's current County Court source gives the $70,000 concurrent civil limit. The current filing-fee schedule caps small claims at $7,500 or less. The fee schedule states jurisdiction figures and costs. It does not predict how a Thayer filing turns out.

Before any Thayer filing or copy request, the official fee material is the safer source when a form or claim category needs verification.
Settings and Hearings on Civil Dockets
A civil setting is a scheduled event. It is not a judgment. Across one case, the Register of Actions may show a notice, hearing, continuance, reset, order, judgment, decree, or notice of appeal at different points. A complaint or petition proves nothing that an entered order proves. A calendar row never replaces the court's ruling.
Use the Thayer County court calendar to confirm a local date. The statewide calendar searches current and future settings by court type, Thayer selection, date, or last name. A civil case could sit in either court. So check County Court and District Court both before trusting a blank result.
Thayer Civil Calendar Results
The official Multi-Court Case Calendar returns a court, case number, caption, date, time, and location. It adds judge or setting type where supplied. The date-search route skips older dates. For a past setting, a changed hearing, or a missing event, search the Register of Actions. Or ask the clerk.
First Judicial District continuance practice gives a local reason to double-check. A motion may need to state whether the other party objects. An unopposed request can require a newly arranged date and time. A blank calendar answer may reflect timing, coverage, a court-level choice, or a restricted record. It does not prove there is no hearing.
Public Access to Civil Dockets
Nebraska's public-access rules allow public court information through an authorized provider or a free terminal. The limits come from law and court rules. The public register helps you follow a filing history. Still, it cannot promise a full complaint, exhibit, transcript, protected address, or document image. Sealed matters and other excluded information stay outside ordinary public access.

Thayer Civil Copy Fees
Found your Thayer County civil case? Copying costs are set by statute. The county-court rate is $0.25 per page for a photocopy, and $1 buys the certificate with a seal. Tell the clerk up front whether you want a plain copy, a certified copy, or some other court product. The price and the paperwork differ. District-court files carry their own rate. So ask that clerk for the current figure instead of assuming the county-court price applies to every civil file.
| Thayer civil copy item | Amount or route | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| County Court photocopy | $0.25 per page | County-court statutory fee |
| County Court certificate and seal | $1 | Ask whether certification is needed |
| District Court copy | Confirm with District Court clerk | Do not presume the county rate |
The county-court copy-fee statute is the source for the listed County Court charges.

A certificate comes from the official who keeps the record. It does not simply bless a public image you viewed through a search result. That convenience copy and a certified court copy are different things.
Thayer Civil Clerk Channels
Which clerk you call depends on the court level. County civil and small-claims questions belong to Mandy Klipp in Room 203. For district civil and domestic-relations matters, ask for Stacey McLaughlin in Room 302. Both sit at 225 N. 4th Street, Hebron, NE 68370. The state's County Court contacts page confirms county offices. The District Court clerk contacts page does the same for district.

A one-line docket entry often is not enough. When you need more than a public image, bring the Thayer case number, the court level, and the exact document name to the counter.
For district-level civil files, the District Court clerk directory lists that separate office.

A JUSTICE result names its court. Check that header first. It keeps a Thayer civil request from landing on the wrong counter.
Thayer Civil Request Details
A sharp written request gets faster results from the Thayer County clerk. List what you know. Give the court, the case number if you have it, the full party name, the year or case type, and the exact register entry or document you want. Add a date range. Say whether you want plain or certified copies. Note how you want them delivered. Under the fee policy, a clerk can search a specific court record once you supply a complete party name plus a case year or type. The clerk's office does not issue a certificate stating that a record does not exist.
Self-help rules may let people who are not attorneys file by mail or fax, within cover-sheet and page limits. That route is for filing papers. It is not for pulling an electronic civil docket or certified copies. Attorneys and other authorized filers work through Nebraska's eFiling system. Everyone else reads the civil docket through JUSTICE, the free public terminal, or the clerk.
Thayer Civil Image Limits
Many filed documents appear as electronic images linked from the Register of Actions. Many were filed or uploaded after April 16, 2008. An image can be missing for several reasons. The filing date, the system's history, or an access restriction may all play a part. So ask the Thayer clerk for the official copy instead of guessing at a document from a one-line entry.

That court-level distinction matters when you search. Confirm the header on any civil case search before mailing off a copy request.
